Tarbiyah Program

We believe that students must understand and be able to make connections with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Tarbiyah refers to a continuous process of spiritual growth and development. Tarbiyah’s unique curriculum focuses on a balance of academic and Islamic subjects. Cocurricular activities are an integral part of Tarbiyah’s curriculum.

Tarbiyah & Character Development Program

Tarbiyah should be an ideal citizen who lives in harmony with the universe and balances the needs of this world with the needs of the Hereafter. Their character should reflect the qualities of a Muslim as illustrated in the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Mohammed, PBUH. Tarbiyah process within our educational programs to develop the complete individual. We seek to create a safe, exciting, Islamic learning environment where children are treated with love, kindness, and respect. We aim to protect and encourage the innate love of learning within each child.

“The best among you are those who have the best behavior.” (Al Bukhari)

We are dedicated to nurturing our students with Islamic and innovative educational methods, while helping to mold them to be noble individuals spiritually, morally, and ethically, guiding them to academic excellence, and strong leadership abilities.

Core Principles of Tarbiyah and our Curriculum include:
1. Spiritual Literacy (Tauheed - Oneness of God)
2. Moral Literacy (Tazkiyah - Purification of the Soul)
3. Intellectual Literacy (Hikmah - Wisdom)
4. Physical Literacy (Istiqama - Steadfastness)
5. Social Literacy (Amanah - Stewardship)
6. Interpersonal Literacy (Ihsan - Pursuit of Excellence)
7. Cultural Literacy (Deen - Way of Life)

We have all heard of the phrase “children are like sponges”. Children learn and pick things up every day absorbing whatever they hear and looking. Above is a diagram of the 3 main areas from where children receive information. These 3 sources are big contributors to children’s development. One of the factors I want to emphasize on is the Parents. The parents are the most important filter that determines how society will affect their child. In today’s society parents are not fulfilling their duties with regards to the development of their children and instead are leaving them at the mercy of the school and society (e.g. TV, movies, games). We need to be very careful as Muslim parents that we do not allow society to mould and develop our children as this will result in a mindset that goes against Islam. Also on the school front we need to ensure that we know what is happening otherwise we will not know what our children are learning.

The main factor out of the 3 is the parent. The parent has control over what the child can do hence parents have a big responsibility. We as parents should be teaching and developing our children according to Islam and building a true understanding. We can also, to a limit, control the influence of the society element.

We need to make sure that the majority of the teaching, developing, building, and protecting comes from us; the parents. Leaving our children to develop based on school and society alone will have a bad effect on the Islamic development of our children.

Our society is characterized by rapidly changing attitudes to religion, belief, family and institutional structures. Changes in the work environment, global political and socioeconomic conditions and the rise of sectarianism and extremist ideology especially within the Muslim community, will continue to pose challenges throughout the twenty-first century.

1. BE KIND
2. BE RESPECTFUL
3. BE RESPONSIBLE
4. BE SAFE

Working and playing co-operatively:
• Behaving as role models for other students (especially younger students)
• Acting in a safe and helpful manner to each other.
• Treating personal and school property with care and respect.
• Developing sense of community and to think of positive ways to make all areas safe for everyone.

Application of Islam to Daily Life
The mind is to be used for development, advancement, and research. We should study our environments and learn to utilize our resources to the best of our ability. We should excel in all academic fields and be powerful, influential and intelligent people who make a positive difference to humanity.

We never teach my pupils; we only attempt to provide the conditions in which they learn.

We help pupils in Integration of Islamic Values into their Lives, Such as:

Taqwa – Knowledge - Responsibility – Mercy - Truthfulness – Sharing - Forgiveness – Cooperation - Self-Control – Modesty - Hard Work - Gratitude - Contentment – Respect - Good Manners – Kindness Honesty Etiquette - Cleanliness – Courage – Feeling - Sympathy – Love

First Rule: The Knowledge that you possess is an Amanah!
Second Rule: The Children under your care are an Amanah!
Third Rule: The Time given to you while the children are under your care is Amanah!
